Ordinary people in an extraordinary circumstance

I just finished reading Brandreth's Philip and Elizabeth, which is a portrait of the royal marriage. The book doesn't break a lot of new ground. Brandreth does take the time to put to rest some rumours like the Prince's affairs. Brandreth's affection for the royal family is also evident. This is not a Morton style bashing.

Still this was a pleasant read about the two and their lives. As my entry title indicates, it becomes apparent that the two are not terrible extraordinary. It is the circumstances of their lives and their rising to their duties that makes them special.
